Albion accept Ellington transfer request

12 April 2012

West Brom have "reluctantly" accepted a transfer request from striker Nathan Ellington.

The 25-year-old is a target of several clubs, including former side Wigan, who had a £3 million bid turned down for him earlier this month.

But it now looks as though Ellington will be on his way, with chairman Jeremy Peace telling the club's official website: "We've had a long and very amicable chat with Nathan and are sympathetic to his circumstances. That is why the manager and the board have reluctantly accepted Nathan's transfer request."

He added: "However we will only sell him if we receive an acceptable offer.

"We have stated all along we are under no pressure to sell any of our players and no-one will leave the club unless it suits us."
