Agar questions Hull's 'priorities'

Hull coach Richard Agar questioned the commitment of his players after they slumped to a 40-18 defeat at Castleford.

Agar's men were outplayed as they went down 40-18 at The Jungle, a loss which further damages their play-off hopes.

Agar said: "I think in isolation we have got some blokes that are trying their hardest and busting a gut to try to get us a result and pick the team up. But it is a team game, and unless we get 17 blokes pulling in the right direction it becomes hard work."

He added: "After the start to the game it leaves me questioning with some of these blokes where rugby sits on their list of priorities."

Most of the damage was done in the opening 26 minutes as Castleford ran in tries through Rangi Chase, Craig Huby, Michael Wainwright and Ryan Hudson.

The outstanding Chase and Wainwright doubled their tallies after the break, and Michael Shenton also touched down - while Hull gained consolations through Willie Manu, Kirk Yeaman and Jodie Broughton.

Agar added: "They had us in disarray at times with their kicking game, and Richard Horne was doing so much covering around the back that it was bedlam for the poor fella.

"They ran hard and tackled hard, and we didn't. That is a huge disappointment in a game that was pivotal for us."

Castleford coach Terry Matterson felt it set them up nicely for their last seven games.

Matterson said: "The way we approached the game was really enthusiastic. Our defence got us on the front foot, and then we dominated possession. You've got to be pleased with a win like that. We've got a couple back to back now, and it puts us in the mix with those sides on 20."
