Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet for the premiere of Nine with white powder all over her face.

The Australian actress suffered the 'make-up malfunction' in New York.

The movie follows the life of film director Guido Contini played by Daniel Day-Lewis.

He reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Dame Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), his glamorous courtesan (Stacy Ferguson) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

The original screenplay was written by the late Anthony Minghella.

The film features a score from the original 1982 Broadway production of Nine, which featured music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, and won five Tony Awards including best musical.
