Steve Coogan calling: Owen Wilson gets a visit from the man blamed for his drug spiral

Alan Partridge comedian Steve Coogan has paid a visit to his close friend Owen Wilson following his recent suicide bid.

Last month, Coogan denied claims by former lover Courtney Love that his hard-living party lifestyle had drawn in Wilson and helped accelerate his downward spiral into drugs and depression.

"I went through it with Steve. I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs.

"I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends. I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy."

The comic spent an hour with Wilson at his Los Angeles home him and said later: "He's doing fine."

Meanwhile, Wilson's other close friend comedian Ben Stiller has also confirmed the troubled star is on the road to recovery.

"I sort of like to protect his privacy, because I feel like it's his own thing."

"But he's a really good friend of mine. He's an incredible guy and I wish him as everybody does, all the best."

Owen dropped out of Stiller's new project Tropic Thunder following the suicide bid.

The role in the comedy has since been filled by fellow Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey.
