Lord Of The Rings star Sir Ian McKellen has been signed up as the voice of bouncy Zebedee in the new film version of The Magic Roundabout.

He joins Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue, who will voice Dougal and Florence. Joanna Lumley is the voice for Ermintrude the cow. The original TV series was created for French TV in the 1960s by Serge Danot.

It was adapted into English, complete with supposedly drug-laden references, by Eric Thompson, the father of actress Emma Thompson.
