Former Westlife singer Bryan McFadden has apologised to a lapdancer with whom he had a sexual encounter on his stag night.

The 24-year-old implied in an interview that Amy Barker was a liar when he denied her claims they had sex shortly before his wedding to ex-Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona in 2001.

Mother-of-two Ms Barker, 29, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, claimed her integrity had been damaged.

McFadden subsequently admitted a 'brief oral sex act' took place. Heat magazine, which interviewed him in 2002, has run an apology stating: 'Both Mr McFadden and ourselves implicitly accused Ms Barker of lying. We accept a sexual encounter did take place and it was not our intention to accuse Ms Barker of lying.'

Ms Barker's lawyer refused to say if damages had been awarded.
