During a romantic dinner at Mr Chow restaurant in Knightsbridge on Valentine's night, Simon is said to have presented his latest flame Mezhgan Hussainy with a big diamond engagement ring.
Within seconds Miss Hussainy, 36, was wearing the ring on her engagement finger so we can only assume she said yes.
Afghan-born Mezhgan, 36 and the X Factor judge, 50, were dining with Jackie St Claire and her husband Carl Michaelson when Simon popped the question.
The make-up artist - who met Simon on the set of American Idol - is known for liking older men.
She was about 20 when she wed rug salesman Ahmed Shah Zahiri, 13 years her senior, in the early 90s.
They divorced eight years later.
