Rebel Wilson explains why she chose baby daughter Royce’s name

Rebel Wilson has revealed why decided to call her baby daughter Royce.

The Pitch Perfect actress, 42, shocked the world earlier this week when she revealed that she had become a mum after secretly welcoming her first-born child via surrogate.

Now, the new mum has given an insight into the newborn’s unusual moniker.

“I wanted an original name starting with the letter R and so eventually landed on that one,” she explained to People.

Wilson also says that the late Queen Elizabeth II also served as inspiration for one of the tot’s two middlenames.

“Lillian and Elizabeth are both family names carried by women in my family who I admire. Elizabeth, which is also my middle name, after the late Queen,” she added to the publication.

The Australian took to Instagram on Monday to share her happy news alongside a first-look at her new arrival.

“Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate,” she wrote alongside the image.

“I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.

“Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!! I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club.”

The announcement came a day after she was forced to deny reports that she and girlfriend Ramona Agruma had got engaged.

She and the fashion designer have been dating for seven months.

Wilson confirmed the relationship in June while also simultaniolusly coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community after an Australian newspaper tried to out her.
