Pippa Middleton has spoken out to quash her ‘party girl’ reputation in a rare interview.

The younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, who recently got engaged to financier James Matthews, has insisted that she’s not ‘privileged socialite’.

“People see me as someone privileged who has used my position to advantage; that I don't really work, that I am a socialite - that word really irritates me - and that I'm a party girl without any substance,” she told the Daily Mail.

“I have had a few years of being in the public eye and I have developed something of a thick skin. But managing it all on my own has been quite hard.”

The 33-year-old, who caught the public’s attention when she acted as bridesmaid at the Royal wedding back in 2011, was suddenly thrown into the spotlight.

As well as being snapped leaving various Chelsea nightclubs and parties, Middleton launched her own book of ‘party tips’, which was mocked for its ‘obviousness’.

The author is now launching a cookery book, Heartfelt, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

But despite picking all of the recipes in the book, which aims to promote a balanced diet with low sugar and salt intake, Middleton hasn’t made all of them herself.

“I would like to say I have made every single one, but I have definitely done a good 80 per cent of them. I made a lot of the dishes at home,” she said.

Back in July, Middleton and Matthews, who is the eldest son of David Matthews, the Laird of Glen Affric, announced their engagement less than a year after they started dating.
