Speculation mounted today over the identity of the old flame or current lover of a Celebrity Big Brother housemate who will join the show tonight.

The ninth celebrity will be unveiled, with programme makers promising the mystery contestant has, or has had, a relationship with one current contestant.

Among the possibles were the wife of troubled racing pundit John McCririck, nicknamed The Booby, and former Holby City actor Jeremy Edwards's ex, pop star Rachel Stevens.

Brigitte Nielsen's former husband, Sylvester Stallone, was a long shot but sparks would surely fly if the fiery pair were reunited.

McCririck's wife Jenny has pleaded with bosses of the Channel 4 contest to get her husband off the show.

"You need to get John out now or I'll go up to the house and drag him out myself," she told the Daily Star.

McCririck has isolated himself from the rest of his housemates in a silent protest over Diet Coke not being on the menu.

Meanwhile, DJ Lisa I'Anson has become Queen of the Big Brother house for three days under the first weekly task.

This means she is to be waited on hand and foot by her fellow housemates for the entire period.

Model Caprice is the Royal Dresser, academic Germaine Greer is the Royal Cook, and McCririck is the Court Jester.

Pop star Kenzie is Royal Minstrel, Jeremy and Happy Mondays legend Bez are footmen while Brigitte has to warm the toilet seat for Lisa.

Their tasks under this theme included pheasant plucking and painting.
The first round of nominations will take place on Tuesday and be broadcast on Wednesday on Channel Four at 9pm.

That will be followed by a live eviction next Friday.

Ladbrokes makes John favourite to be first evicted at 5-4 while Jeremy is the 2-1 favourite to win.
