Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has filed a lawsuit against the clothing company Oh Polly after she was fired within six months.

Since appearing on the ITV show, the reality star, 28, who won the series last summer with partner Davide Sanclimenti, 27, secured a contract with fashion brand Oh Polly.

But who is Ekin-Su, and why is she suing the brand?

Who is Ekin-Su?

Ekin-Su is a British actress who rose to fame on the eight series of ITV reality show Love Island. Before appearing on the show, she worked as an actor and singer, and is best known for protraying Isil on the Turkish soap opera Kuzey Yıldızı İlk Aşk.

She was born in London and is of Turkish descent. She now splits her time between Essex and Instanbul, and studied performing arts at the University of Lancashire.

After winning the series, she secured a contract with fashion brand Oh Polly, which has been called the “largest apparel contract in Love Island history”, and is reportedly worth £1 million.

The Love Island star released one 16-piece collection, which the brand is now clearing off at discounted pricing.

Why is Ekin-Su suing Oh Polly?

“Ekin-Su and Oh Polly have parted ways,” an insider revealed to MailOnline.

According to the Sun, an insider said: “Both the brand and Culcuoglu have been left disappointed and there is now a dispute over money owed on the lucrative contract.”

Earlier, a source had told MailOnline that the brand, which launched in October, “wasn’t working” and the Dancing on Ice star’s line had trouble connecting with Oh Polly’s clientele.

Sam Thompson, Zara McDermott, Antigoni Buxton and several of her fellow Love Island co-stars attended a lavish party at London’s One Marylebone to celebrate her partnership with the company.

Runners-up Gemma Owen and Indiyah Polak were signed by PrettyLittleThing and Tasha Ghouri was named the brand ambassador for Love Island sponsor eBay.

Ekin acquired relationships with beauty companies B Perfect Cosmetics and Beauty Works after gaining more than 3.2 million Instagram followers.

Speaking about her jump into fashion last year: “I want people to feel sexy. I want every woman, every age and every size to feel great. Not just model material, not just the young 20 year old. When I was 23 I wore Oh Polly. I’m 28 and I’m still wearing Oh Polly. Hopefully when I’m 38, I’m still wearing Oh Polly.”
