Lady Gaga has parted ways with the creative director who helped shape her from a fledgling pop singer into a global fashion icon.

The Born This Way star is said to have had a "bitter fight" with Laurieann Gibson.

The pair met when Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, signed to Interscope Records as a New York art school drop-out.

The 42-year-old Canadian was said to be one third of the creative triumvirate that turned Gaga into a multi-platinum, Grammy-winning star and one of the most influential women in the world. She choreographed 13 of her most successful videos, and worked alongside Gaga, 25, and Nicola Formichetti, 34, who designs her outrageous costumes.

Gibson stepped out of Gaga's shadow recently and has made a number of statements criticised by the singer's fans. She became a presenter on dance-based reality shows on US TV, and caused controversy when she claimed Gaga had modelled herself on Madonna.

Richard Jackson, who was Gibson's No 2, is now choreographing Gaga's performances.
