Pop princess Kylie Minogue has spoken for the first time of her terror on learning she had breast cancer

The 38-year-old - who is now in full remission after undergoing chemotherapy - described the moment that she was diagnosed with the killer disease in an in-depth documentary for Sky One.

She told interviewer Cat Deeley that her first instinct in May last year was to run away, but her family persuaded her to fight.

"The moment my doctors told me, I went silent," Kylie said. "My mum and dad were with me.

"We all fell to pieces. I was saying, 'No, I'm getting on a plane.'
"They said, 'No you're not. Sit down."'

The former Neighbours star says she is now looking forward to getting back to her music career. She ventured back on to the stage a few weeks ago when she joined sister Danni during a gig at the G-A-Y night at London's Astoria venue.

The hour long programme, Kylie in Her Own Words, is due to be shown on Sky One on July 16 at 9pm.
