They may have been axed from the X Factor, but Kelly Rowland still believes in "her girls".

The 30-year-old judge said her ousted protégées - Misha B, Janet Devlin and Sophie Habibis - are part of a new generation.

And her only finalist, Amelia Lily, is set for stardom, win or lose, she said.

At a party at Soho nightclub The Box, the former Destiny's Child star said: "I get calls from the girls and we chat. This is a brand new generation of music - there's definitely space in the industry for all my girls."

Rowland refused to commit to next year's X Factor, only saying: "We'll see what happens."

Last month it emerged she was unhappy on the show - taken aback by its "pantomime" element and the constant scrutiny. Last night she said: "Everybody's going to have something to say each week, whether you put your hand a certain way or whether you put a mole on the left or right side of your face, like who cares?"

Tomorrow's final will see Lily, Marcus Collins and Little Mix performing with their mentors.

This year's series has seen disappointing ratings in the absence of Simon Cowell, with BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing overtaking it.
