Johnny Depp has reportedly been accused of accidently chopping off his own finger and using the blood to write on a mirror during an argument with wife Amber Heard.

In papers filed by the 30-year-old actress as part of her domestic abuse case against the actor, she alleges that he cut off the tip of his finger and then dipped it in blue paint.

According to TMZ, who have obtained photos of a bloody finger, which are being used as exhibits at the hearing, Depp proceeded to accuse his wife of cheating on him.

Heard alleges that Depp then scrawled words including ‘Billy Bob’ and ‘Easy Amber’ on a mirror in the couple’s bathroom.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in March last year, after Heard – who denies being unfaithful to Depp - starred alongside Billy Bob Thornton in film London Fields.

At the time, Depp’s injured finger was explained as an ‘on-set- injury’ which happened during shooting on the new Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Heard reportedly sat for seven hours during her deposition on Saturday, with a hearing set to take place on Wednesday if a settlement can’t be reached.

Heard filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, on May 23, three days after the death of Depp's mother, Betty Sue.

In papers filed with the court, Heard said Depp, 53, had a "history of drug and alcohol abuse" and had been "verbally and physically abusive" for all of their four-year-relationship.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carl H Moor granted a temporary restraining order on May 27 and ruled that Depp must stay at least 100 yards away from his wife and should not try to contact her.
