The answer, the Daily Mail can reveal, is Paul Sculfor. And if you've never heard of him, that's hardly surprising.

Although he bears a striking resemblance to Pitt, he is far from the movie A-list material which usually attracts Miss Aniston. Scroll down for more

Sculfor is, in fact, a 36-year-old former bricklayer and boxer from Essex.

He left school at 16 then earned £150 a day on a Romford building site before becoming an amateur boxer and then a model. He claims to have been "discovered by talent scouts" as he worked on the site.

In fact, he won a talent search contest for which his mother entered him. Sculfor got his big break when he was chosen for a Levi's advertisement in 1997, and went on to model in campaigns for the world's top couturiers, who paid him £1,500 an hour.

He was engaged to television presenter Lisa Snowdon when they were both young models. She moved on to George Clooney and he moved on to the pop group All Saints where he was linked to singer Shaznay Lewis then her bandmate Nicole Appleton.

With his career still on the up he moved to Beverly Hills, where he now shares a small house with a male friend while he completes a campaign for Jean Paul Gaultier. Recently Sculfor has also modelled for Land Rover, which may explain why he was photographed at the wheel of one arriving at Miss Aniston's Californian home last Friday evening. He did not emerge until at 11am.

The pair later visited a nearby restaurant in Santa Monica, where Sculfor was seen rubbing 38-year-old Miss Aniston's back as they waited for a table. They enjoyed a candle-lit dinner, holding hands across the table.

All of which has come as something of a surprise for Mr Sculfor's mother Jean, 62, and father George, 66 who live in a modest bungalow in Upminster.

Their son made a special trip back from Los Angeles two weeks ago to break the news of his new-found romance to his parents - and to brief them about the pending media furore.

The couple confirmed their son's relationship with Miss Aniston but added that they had to receive guidance from him before saying any more.

At their bungalow, two bushes stand either side of the doorstep. One bears a saying: "A life without friends is like a garden without flowers."

Perhaps that should be Friends with a capital F.
