Michael Jackson faces 10 criminal charges, including one of conspiracy that was added to the original indictment last April by a grand jury.

The most serious is a conspiracy count alleging child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.

In addition, the star is charged with four counts of lewd acts involving a minor and one count of attempting a lewd act upon a child.

He also faces four counts of administering an intoxicating agent - in this case alcohol - upon a child.

If the pop superstar is found guilty, the judge will have no alternative but to send Jackson to prison.

Under California law, he faces between three and eight years for each of the molestation charges and at least 20 years if found guilty on all 10 counts.
