Gordon Ramsay has unleashed his fiery temper on America - making a grown man cry.

The chef branded 48-year-old Aaron a "chunky monkey" on the new US series of Hell's Kitchen.

He had joked in the opening minutes of the show that he would be easier on the contestants than he is on the British version - but broke his promise within minutes.

Cracked: the hot-headed chef, left, made a US contestant cry

Aaron had turned up to the Los Angeles-based show in a Stetson, to which Ramsay sneered: "I have never seen an Asian cowboy."

He had to leave the kitchen several times because he said he felt "faint."

Earlier Ramsay told the cameras: "I am known for losing my temper. But this time things are going to be a lot different. The competing chefs will not make idiotic mistakes. And most importantly I will not scream, swear. Oh come on, who am I trying to kid?"

As well as tears from Aaron, other contestants were left with their heads in their hands after his devastating critique of their signature dishes. He even told one chef his risotto tasted like "gnat's piss".

But it was a female chef, Tiffany, who got the boot - for failing to fry eggs correctly.
