Georgia Toffolo has spoken out about her decision to cut back on alcohol, saying consuming less has created “so many positive movements in my life”.

The reality television star, 28, who shot to fame on E4 show Made In Chelsea in 2014, said she has drastically cut down in recent years — adding she is now “embracing a bit of moderation” when it comes to drinking.

The star, who is known as Toff, said there was now a “movement” among some young people towards alcohol-free living and that she was in “awe” of those who spoke out about choosing to cut back.

Her fellow Made In Chelsea stars Spencer Matthews and Millie MackIntosh are among a growing number of celebrities who openly speak about their difficult relationship with alcohol, and their choice to live booze-free.

Speaking about her decision, Toffolo — who recently spent the week at the Ascot races — said: “Life is a bit better with balance.

“I think it is me getting a bit older. I have seen so many positive movements in my life.

“Bearing in mind it is a Friday today, I would often be a bit groggy on a Friday, but I can’t wait to go for a big walk with the dog, I can’t wait to go to pilates.

“Mindful drinking has enriched my life.”

Speaking about the more general movement towards drinking less, the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner said: “There is a wonderful movement going on and it is really positive.

“Alcohol consumption is just being looked at. It is not positive, it is not negative, it is just encouraging people that this [moderation] is a positive thing to do.”

Toffolo is currently working with Harrogate water to promote “mindful drinking”.

The brand said that nearly two-thirds (61 per cent) of Britons plan to drink in moderation in the coming months, despite 78 per cent associating summer events such as festivals, weddings and concerts with alcohol.

As well as a television personality, Toffolo is an author, writing four romance novels with publisher Mills & Boon since 2020.

She revealed she is now working on a thriller for her latest work that is set in Westminster.

On her writing ambitions, Toffolo said: “Writing is something I want to do for the rest of my life if I am lucky enough.

“The world of politics is something that I have been fascinated with for a long time. I am proud of myself for being ballsy and for doing something different.

“I want to prove to everyone that I can write in different genres.”
