Fan turned out in droves to catch a glimpse of Jamie Dornan at the UK premiere of the Fifty Shades Of Grey Film this evening.

The 32-year-old star, who plays suave businessman Christian Grey, walked a grey carpet at the London premiere in Leicester Square.

He was joined by Dakota Johnson who plays the college student Mr Grey seduces into an S&M relationship.

But The Fall star revealed his wife would not be queuing up for cinema tickets: "She hasn't seen the film and I don't think she will, to be honest. I'd understand if she didn't want to."

He added that there could be a few embarrassing moments for his other loved ones, too: "I think there's some stuff where my family and friends will never have seen that side of me before, but it wasn't enough to make me not want to do it."

Johnson was also at the premiere, braving the cold in a floor-length white Yves Saint Laurent gown with a plunging neckline.

Dornan confirmed he had been a perfect gentleman during sex scenes with Johnson: "I'd be a really awful person if I didn't cover her up after they called cut and she's naked. I'm not the kind of guy who could just leave her."

Director Sam Taylor-Johnson also attended with actor husband Aaron, as did writer James.

The author admitted of handing over control to Taylor-Johnson: "I found it very, very difficult.

"I had to honour the fandom and there were some ideas where I thought, 'No, the Red Room does need to be red', so I fought for the story because of the fans.

"In any creative environment you're going to get discussions."

However, not everyone is a fan of the tale - anti-domestic violence protesters were removed from the crowd by police after unfurling a banner that read "Christian Grey is a rapist" and showering the carpet with leaflets.

Fifty Shades Of Grey is released in cinemas on February 13.
