Two of the most popular television comedies of the Seventies are returning to the small screen.

Porridge and The Good Life charmed millions of viewers and have never lost their appeal. Now two of the shows' stars have been tempted back to relive their roles in new programmes for BBC2's Christmas season.

The one-hour "biographical documentaries" will include old and new material catching up on the lives of the cheeky prisoner Norman Stanley Fletcher from Porridge - played by Ronnie Barker, 74 - and snobbish Margot from The Good Life, played by Penelope Keith, 63.
