Former US President Bill Clinton's long-awaited memoirs will reveal the full details of his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

'He talks with candour about his setbacks,' said publisher Sonny Mehta.

Advance publicity for My Life began with the publisher announcing an initial print run of 1.5million copies, a huge number for a work of non fiction.

To the relief of the Democratic Party and presidential candidate Senator John Kerry, the predicted publishing date in June is four months before election day.

Officials still fear an explosion of scandalridden tales from a Democratic White House could divert attention from Kerry.

The Lewinksy affair led to Clinton ' s impeachment over charges of lying under oath.

The former president, who will earn around £8m from the book, plans a world sales tour.
