Channing Tatum thinks he is a good husband because he puts the toilet seat down.

The 30-year-old actor believes his consideration with personal hygiene makes him easy for spouse Jenna Dewan to live with because growing up with female relatives has given him a good idea of what women like.

Channing said: "I hope I'm a good husband. I always put the toilet seat down.

"I grew up with women so I would get in big trouble if I didn't put the toilet seat back down. It's been ingrained in me."

Jenna added: "He's a really understanding husband. He's very compassionate. He grew with all women, so he understands where girls are coming from and what our needs are."

Channing was equally complimentary about Jenna, 30, praising his "perfect" spouse.

He gushed to People magazine: "She's the perfect wife. She's so loving and a beautiful lady inside and out."

The couple also revealed they are always content in one another's company, though they both take the time for one small romantic gesture every day.

Channing said: "One of the best parts of being married is coming home and just sitting on the couch with her. Knowing that she will be there and that she understands me and I can tell her about my day, it's really nice."

Jenna added: "We work at it. We do something to make each other feel special. I try to give him a kiss or a hug, and tell him 'I love you' every day, and he does the same for me."

Channing and Jenna are happy to contribute to household chores, and think they have come up with the perfect way of dividing up domestic tasks around the house.

He explained: "Even though my clothes are literally everywhere, she's actually the messier one. But Jenna does pick up the clothes and does the laundry. I'm more of the kitchen guy, and I vacuum and keep the desk organised. So, we split it down the middle."
