Zayn Malik has confirmed he has finished recording his second album, hours after splitting from Gigi Hadid.

The former One Direction singer shunned a big announcement in favour of breaking the news in response to a fan comment on Instagram.

Malik posted a topless shot of himself alongside the caption: “When Life throws you lemons, catch em so they don’t hit you in the f****** face.”

A fan commented: “OR WHEN LIFE THROWS YOU LEMONS MAKE AN ALBUM BOO.”

Malik replied: “Albums been done. Just working on my videos ladies calm it, calm it (sic).”

It will mark Malik’s second album following on from the release of Mind of Mine in 2016.

Malik broke the news hours after he confirmed his split from model Hadid.

The couple, who dated for two years, announced their split on Tuesday, with the Pillowtalk singer insisting he has a “huge amount of respect and adoration” for his ex.

Hadid broke her silence hours later, telling fans she will “continue to support him as a friend”.

Malik was trolled by Little Mix fans who branded the break-up “karma” for him reportedly ending his engagement to Perrie Edwards by a single text message. Malik has always denied the claim.

The couple started dating in late 2015 before going public with their romance on Instagram. They starred together in Malik’s music video for Pillowtalk and posed for a Vogue shoot before making their red carpet debut at the 2016 Met Gala.
