He rose to fame on beloved surrealist comedy show The Mighty Boosh, but Noel Fielding is about to find himself with a whole new fanbase.

The comedian and actor has turned his hand to presenting, gaining an overwhelmingly positive response when his first episode as co-host of The Great British Bake Off aired on Tuesday night.

With many viewers dubbing his presenting technique “charming”, it seems that Fielding might have won over even the die-hard Bake Off viewers.

1. He's starred in some of Britain’s best-loved comedies

He might be best known as the co-creator of The Might Boosh alongside Julian Barratt, but Fielding has also appeared in some of Britain’s most acclaimed comedy shows.

He played reclusive goth Richmond in Channel 4’s The IT Crowd and also appeared in Charlie Brooker’s Nathan Barley and cult show Gareth Marenghi’s Darkplace alongside friend and frequent collaborator Richard Ayoade.

2. He was in a band with Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno

As well as appearing in Kasabian’s 2009 video for Vlad the Impaler, Fielding also formed his very own band with Sergio Pizzorno.
