Tom Hiddleston has insisted his relationship with Taylor Swift will not affect his career.

The 35-year-old British actor is not worrying about negative press as he is "committed" to the Blank Space singer and described their relationship as 'authentic'.

Hiddleston - who has been dating Swift since her split from Calvin Harris - made the comments during an appearance at Comic Con where he was promoting his upcoming film Kong: Skull Island.

When asked if he is bothered by the media attention his personal life is attracting, he told People: "I don't know, it comes down to being authentic.

"Everything you do you have to make sure you truly believe in it and as long as you know that, it doesn't matter what anyone else says about it because the nature of being a public figure is that everyone will have an opinion about anything you do, and as long as you know why you've done something and you've committed to it with authenticity then you're OK."

The San Diego event marked the first time the actor had been seen without Swift since they started dating.

The inseparable pair have enjoyed holidays in the UK, Rome, Australia and the US where Hiddleston joined Swift and her 'squad' at her Rhode Island beach house to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Hiddleston - who has been nominated for an Emmy for his performance in The Night Manager - has been busy filming his role as Loki in Thor: Ragnarok in Australia.

Speaking about the Marvel production, he said: "It's amazing to be back, amazing.

"I've only shot for about a week but it's so much fun, because I haven't played the character for three and a half years and the script is brilliant, Taika Waititi [director] is brilliant. I've shot a couple of scenes and it's just the best fun. It is like seeing an old friend again."
