Theresa May has revealed that she’s backing Debbie McGee on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Prime Minister admitted to being a keen fan of the BBC dancing show and was currently “cheering on” the 59-year-old contestant when she had a chance to watch.

"She's doing very well," the Prime Minister told reporters during a trip to the Middle East.

Asked if she thinks the former magician’s assistant will win, May added: "She's very good. Alexandra Burke is also very good, but one or two of the men seem to be quite dark horses too.”

She added: “So it is a good quality competition this year.”

But while she might be keeping on Strictly, the Prime Minster hasn’t been monitoring Stanley Johnson’s progress on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

May admitted she has not been watching the ITV show which features the 77-year-old former MEP, revealing she has had "one or two other things" on her mind.

This year’s series of the popular show is now in the final stages, with just a few weeks left to go before someone lifts the Glitterball Trophy.

Mollie King is currently the favourite to miss out on the next week’s semi-finals, as she’s odds-on to leave this Sunday.

Actor Joe McFadden is currently favourite to win, with odds of 12/5, followed by McGee who currently has odds of 11/4.
