Honey G has been allowed to keep her stage name, despite the fact that she shares it with a Korean boyband.

The London rapper, who is edging ever closer to the final on this year’s X Factor, will not be forced to rebrand herself.

According to reports, the musician – real name Anna Gilford – could have faced a lawsuit if the K-pop band decided that they wanted to copyright the name as they have been using it since 2012.

A show insider has since told The Sun that the rapper has been able to keep her stage name as the acts are so different.

“Honey G’s a rapper and these guys make K-Pop – there’s no way they could be confused,” said the source.

The Korean Honey G also rose to fame on a TV talent show, chosen to perform on Superstar K4 by Gangnam Style’s Psy.

X Factor 2016: who's been eliminated so far?

1/9

A number of X Factor acts have had to change their names in the past, including the hugely successful Little Mix, who were originally Rhythmix.

Last year’s girl Group 4th Impact had to change their name from 4th Power, while this year’s ill-fated The Brooks were originally Brooks Way.

One Direction also famously had to settle a lawsuit in 2012 because an American band had been performing under the same name for years.

Despite being viewed as this year’s novelty act, Honey G is yet to find herself in the bottom two.
