Taylor Kinney has retracted an Instagram 'like' that appeared to take a swipe at his ex-fiancé Lady Gaga.

The Chicago Fire actor landed himself in hot water with fans after liking a comment about “getting away from Gaga”.

The comment in question read: “Stoked you got away from Gaga #Hollyweird.”

Kinney, 37, has now apologised for his “accident” after fans slated him for “shading” the Oscar-winning singer.

“Sorry for the 'like'. It was an accident. I’m only proud and happy for Stef,” he wrote.

Gaga and Kinney called off their engagement in 2016 after five years together, citing “work schedules” as bringing down their relationship.

The pair had first met back in 2011 on the set of Gaga’s music video for You and I.

Shortly after their split, Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – began dating Christian Carino but they also recently broke off their engagement .

On Sunday night, Gaga rounded off a successful awards season for her hit song Shallow from A Star Is Born as she picked up the Oscar for Best Original Song.

Gaga made headlines after she performed the track with co-star Bradley Cooper.

Fans questioned the “chemistry” between the pair as they nestled into each other at the grand piano.

But Gaga dismissed any speculation over their “romance” during a recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show , calling social media the “toilet of the Internet” and saying that it means they did their job of making a “love song”.

She said: “People saw love, and guess what, that's what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, the movie is a love story.”
