Stormzy is set to help young authors get published with a brand new deal with publishing house Penguin.

The London-based rapper, 24, announced the big news on his Instagram page, saying that “reading and writing as a kid was integral” to where he is today and that his brand will publish several books a year.

Using his new imprint, Stormzy will also publish his own autobiography, Rise Up, in November this year and launch a paid internship in 2019.

In his post on Thursday, he wrote: “Super proud to announce our new venture #Merky Books, a publishing imprint in collaboration with Penguin Random House @penguinukbooks.

“We will be using this as a platform for young writers to become published authors, I know too many talented writers that don’t always have an outlet or a means to get their work seen.

“Hopefully #Merky Books can now be a reference point for them to say “I can be an author” and for that to be a realistic and achievable goal.

“I, from the bottom of my heart, cannot wait to hear your stories, your poems, your novels, your sci-fis and then getting them out into the big wide world.

“Proper proud of this! We’ll be doing school competitions, taking entries and submissions and looking for writers as well but I’ll keep you posted.”

The Gang Signs & Prayers artist, real name Michael Omari already has a record label with the same name with company Atlantic Records to release music and find new talent.

Stormzy continues to enjoy major success, this year winning two BRIT awards for British Album and British Male Solo Artist.
