Selena Gomez has waded into Taylor Swift’s row with Kanye West.

The pop star has backed the singer after Kim Kardashian released a phone conversation between Swift and her husband discussing the lyrics to his song ‘Famous’.

Kardashian posted a video of the conversation on Sunday night after Swift denied that West had sought her permission to include the lyrics “I made that b**** famous” on the track.

Gomez, who is a member of Swift’s ‘squad’, told her followers that she was ‘disappointed’ with the industry.

She wrote on Twitter: “There are more important things to talk about... Why can't people use their voice for something that f****** matters?

“Truth is last thing we need right now is hate, in any form.

“This industry is so disappointing yet the most influential smh.”

While the 23-year-old referenced neither West nor Swift, her tweets were posted just moments after Swift released a statement claiming that she was a victim of ‘character assassination’.

Swift wrote: “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that b****' in his song?

“It doesn't exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone's emotional response to being called 'that b****' in front of the entire world."

“He promised to play the song for me, but he never did.

“While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot 'approve' a song you haven't heard.”

“Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination.”
