Rowan Atkinson has started shooting scenes for the Love Actually sequel, reprising his role as shop salesman Rufus.

The British actor and comedian was spotted filming behind a counter in Sainsbury’s on Thursday, as part of the forthcoming 10-minute film for Comic Relief.

Emma Freud, who is married to director Richard Curtis, sent some teaser tweets from the set, writing:

“Filming seems to be going ok... #rednosedayactually day 2.”

She then revealed that Atkinson was the star of the shoot, getting back into character as the pushy jewellery salesman who spent ages gift-wrapping a present for Alan Rickman back in 2003.

Posting a snap of the actor on set, Freud wrote: “Oh look who we found in @sainsburys. Day 2 filming for #rednosedayactually going well... actually.”

She added: “Oh Rufus. There's something unexpected in the bagging area. #rednosedayactually day 2. Done.”

Liam Neeson and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have already shot their scenes for the eagerly-awaited short film, reuniting as Daniel and his step-son Sam.

Brodie-Sangster, now 26, was just 12-years-old when he played the lovestruck youngster in the much-loved film.

Big names from the cast including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Keira Knightley are set to reunite for Curtis’ new sequel set to air on Red Nose Day.

"I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do ten minutes to see what everyone is now up to,” said Curtis.
