Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Fallon twerked together on the chat show host's programme.

The two stars tried out the dance move made famous by Miley Cyrus' MTV Video Music Awards performance - which involves shaking and bouncing your butt - on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night.

The pair were left with some extra time towards the end of their interview and decided to twerk in an attempt to fill time, despite the fact neither of them understood how to do the move.

Ricky said: "Come on, show me how to twerk ... so if someone's clicking around now, they'll just see this."

Jimmy replied: "I don't know how to twerk. I've never twerked!"

Just last week, late night chat show host Jimmy Kimmel pranked fans after a video titled 'Worst Twerk Fail EVER" emerged on the internet, which sees a young girl twerking before crashing into a table filled with candles and catching on fire.

The star later revealed on Monday night that his "Live!" chat show team masterminded the elaborate video hoax.

Jimmy - who made a cameo with a fire extinguisher in an "extended" version of the clip - said: "To the conspiracy theorists on the Internet who thought the video was fake: You were right it was fake."
