Poppy Delevingne says she fell into modelling by accident and is now focused on pursuing her first love — acting.

The 30-year-old is following her sister Cara into films after landing her first roles in Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword and Matthew Vaughn’s sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

She revealed she has been practising lines with Cara, 24, who made the jump into acting in 2012. She said: “We do practise our American accents on the phone with each other, which always makes me giggle.

“But we’re very supportive of each other in what we do, and it’s been amazing watching how wonderfully she’s doing, and how she’s growing and taking the bull by the horns. She’s a very inspiring little creature.”

She told the Standard: “I caught the acting bug when I was at school. I was Queen Gertrude in a school play of Hamlet. I loved every second of it and that’s what I wanted to do.

“But then I fell into modelling because I wanted desperately to go travelling and see the world, and had to pay to do so, so then modelling became... it was never truly in my heart, for all the experiences that I had.

“But I have been acting now for a good five years and I’ve only just started getting jobs — they really weren’t joking when they said how tough it was.

“For now, acting is what I want to focus on. So much hard work has gone into it. Instead of being a jack of all trades, I’d like to be a master of one.”

She was speaking at the launch of the Range Rover Velar at the Design Museum, where guests included Damian Lewis, Zara Tindall, David Gandy, Rob Brydon, Jimmy Carr and Rag’N’Bone Man.

Despite being the face of the new car, Delevingne said she had yet to take her driving test. She said: “I’m very close to doing it. I know I’m 30 and that’s pathetic, but I was brought up in central London.”
