Piers Morgan has said that he might run for British Prime Minister now that Donald Trump is President of the United States.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, who tweeted to congratulate Trump early on Wednesday morning, has said that he’s keen to maintain the ‘Special Relationship’ between the UK and the US.

“I might have to run for British Prime Minister now so we can properly restore the Special Relationship. #PresidentTrump,” Morgan wrote on Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, the tweet didn’t seem to go down too well with his followers, with one person writing:

“You'd be perfect. You seem to have the middle class, pompous,up your own a*** thing down to a T.”

Another follower posted: “Lol. After the American outcome anything is possible.”

Just moments after it was announced that Trump had beaten Hillary Clinton to become the 45th President of United States, Morgan tweeted:

“Congratulations to my friend @realDonaldTrump – an astonishing achievement.”

Then, during the President-elect’s first speech since his victory, he added: “(President) Trump already sounding calmer, less confrontational and more inclusive. Augurs well.”

Katie Hopkins was also quick to react to the shock news, writing on Twitter: “Thank you America. #MAGA a new dynasty is born.”

Nigel Farage shared a video of himself meeting Trump, joking that the new POTUS could supersede him as the ‘number one Mr Brexit.’

“I hand over the mantle to @RealDonaldTrump! Many congratulations. You have fought a brave campaign,” he wrote.
