Piers Morgan and Joan Collins have criticised Madonna over her “ludicrous” Met Gala outfit.

Madonna, 57, wore a black lace ensemble to the technology themed event which accentuated her breasts and bottom.

Speaking about the outfit on Good Morning Britain, Collins said the Queen of Pop should be prepared to be ridiculed, and speculated that her outfit choice may lead to her son Rocco being teased.

“I thought the bottom thing was a bit over the top,” she said. “It reminded me of a time I was in a movie called The Stud and I was wearing a basque and black stockings but when I went to my son’s school he was very embarrassed because all the boys had seen The Stud and he told me later it was really embarrassing to see [his] mother in a basque. He was teased unrelentingly so. One thinks perhaps Madonna’s son also might get teased.”

She added: “If you want to do that, be prepared to be made a figure of fun – because I don’t know anybody who hasn’t been laughing at it. It’s a kind of ludicrous look. Why do you want to show your bottom?”

Morgan also made clear his distaste for Madonna’s “ridiculous” clothing and branded her an “old fraud”.

Making it clear that she is not welcome in the studio when he is working, Morgan said: “Madonna, come in on a Thursday or Friday if you want a warm reception. Or come in on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday if you want a chilly one.”

He later jokingly apologised for the comment, tweeting: “I'd like to apologise to Madonna for calling her an 'old fraud' just now. I realise this was offensive to old frauds. @GMB.”

It is not the first time the controversial columnist has hit out at a celebrity over their clothing.

He branded Susan Sarandon "tacky" and "inappropriate" after she presented the SAG Awards In Memoriam segment in a low-cut white blazer. He also offered to buy clothes for Kim Kardashian after she posted a naked selfie to her Instagram account.
