Coleen Rooney has hit back at critics who slammed husband Wayne Rooney’s performance during England’s World Cup match against Italy on Saturday.

The 28-year-old mum of two took to Twitter to defend her husband’s performance and challenged Twitter trolls to try and play better themselves.

One man tweeted “I could do better then that overpayed w*****,” to which Coleen hilariously replied, “phone up Roy!”

In sticking up for her footballer husband the abuse was directed to Coleen’s own account before tweets started turning nasty.

One user referenced the 28-year-old’s looks: “how do you think shrek played lastnight coleen?? I personally Think he should be thinking hanging his boots up.”

But Coleen was soon quick to point out that the Manchester United striker has his own Twitter account and that he had in fact set up the only goal that England scored during the match.

She tweeted: “set that goal up didn’t he!! He’s got an account you know…”

Coleen flew out to Brazil with the couples two children 4-year-old Kai and one year old Klay yesterday and tweeted “We’re off!! Come on England!!”
