Prince fans have launched a petition calling for the legendary musician to be honoured with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Created by Dylan Stoker, the change.org petition criticises the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for recognising presidential candidate Donald Trump but not the late singer.

The petition – which has amassed more than 14,000 signatures – reads: “Prince does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame but Donald Trump does.

“His lack of recognition in one of the most well-known tributes in the world is a travesty of the highest calibre.

“We implore the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to give Prince a posthumous Star so the world can honour him in the company of legends the way he deserves.”

Those throwing their support behind the campaign described the iconic singer as a “legend” and agreed that a star is “long overdue”.

One supported wrote: “Prince is one of the greatest performers of all time and he should be treated as such.”

Another posted: "He is a legend!!! He should have had one way before now."

One fan took matters into their own hands and graffitied the name 'Prince' in gold letters across a blank star on the famous pavement.
