Singer Peter Andre has revealed that he would love to dance with Ola Jordan on Strictly Come Dancing.

Andre, 42 – who was the seventh celebrity name to be announced ahead of the upcoming series – said the pair have joked about him waltzing into the ballroom for years, but that work commitments prevented him from taking part.

"I've met her many times in the past and we always joked for years, it's been going on for years, where I said 'I'll only ever do Strictly if you're my partner'," he told Free Radio.

"Because she kept saying, 'When are you gonna come on the show, when are you gonna do it?"'

The Mysterious Girl singer also revealed that he had to seek permission from his wife Emily MacDonagh before agreeing to star on the BBC show.

“I wear the trousers, but she picks ’em for me. She picks the colours, the size, the belt,” he joked.

“I mean, you have to ask permission.”

The father-of-three made sure to point out that his previous experience as a performer will not guarantee he wins the coveted glitterball trophy.

"How do we know that the weather lady [Carol Kirkwood] doesn't go home, and goes upstairs, and underneath her weather costume is sparkles, and she stands in front of that mirror and she is unbelievable? Nobody knows that!," he joked.

"What about Ainsley Harriott, he's good with his hands, but how do we know he isn't going to be good with his feet?"

Aswell as Kirkwood and Harriott, Andre will be competing against Jeremy Vine, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote, Katie Derham, Daniel O’Donnell and Anthony Ogogo.
