As D-Day looms in the Big Brother house, wannabe footballer's wife Nikki was feeling decidedly glum

Nikki and posh Grace are up for eviction in tomorrow's public vote.

But luckily for Nikki, new girl Susie Verrico - who nominated both for eviction and was the only housemate allowed to vote - and Lea were on hand to mother her and offer some advice.

"I've got emotions all over the place, I don't want to go," Grace said to Susie, who entered the house on a Golden Ticket.

Golden Tickets were hidden inside special Kit Kat bars.

The 43-year-old model replied: "Try not to worry about it, it's a pantomime and a game. You're letting your mind run riot.

"The people that love you will be there for you."

"It's scary," Nikki said, prompting Susie to sit her down and tell her about all the "nice things to look forward to" when she gets out.

Lea was quick to get in on the act, joining the conversation and giving Nikki a big kiss on the head.

She said: "At the end of the day, it will all be over in eight weeks. When you hear the crowds you'll realise it's just a game show, not reality."

The attention and advice seemed to perk Nikki up.

Last night, Big Brother bosses insisted their Golden Ticket contest was not a fix.

The independent adjudicator issued a statement backing up their claims.

Susie was selected to enter the house on Friday night's live show.

But several of the housemates recognised her and it emerged she had auditioned for the Channel 4 show a number of times.

Yesterday, the Daily Star claimed Susie told drinkers in a London pub two weeks ago: "Watch out for me, I'm going into the Big Brother house."

Some reports have suggested the lottery-style draw was rigged and that Susie's number - 14 - was on every ball.

Channel 4 released close-up pictures of the draw machine which appear to show balls bearing other numbers.

It also released a statement from the independent adjudicator which oversaw the draw.

Sian Roberts, deputy chief executive of the Electoral Reform Services, said: "On Friday 9 June, we acted as independent adjudicators for the Golden Ticket lottery draw.

"We were on site to verify the balls were correctly placed into the lottery machine. We then supervised the machine being moved into the garden area which was then locked."

And Big Brother boss Phil Edgar-Jones insisted: "There is absolutely no truth in any of the rumours that the Golden Ticket draw was a fix."
