Johnny Depp joked that Dame Judi Dench is his ‘one true love’ at the Murder on the Orient Express premiere.

Depp, who was on the red carpet with co-stars Dench, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Willem Dafoe and director Kenneth Branagh, made the confession during an interview with host Lorraine Kelly for BUILD Series.

The actor was discussing the film’s star-studded ensemble cast and Dench’s acting skills when he told Kelly: “Judi Dench is my one true love. She levitates.”

His comments were met with a laugh from Kelly who went on to question Depp on the character he plays in the film, the evil Edward Ratchett.

When asked if villains are more interesting to tackle as an actor, Depp replied: “I mean, sure, there’s a lot more that you can explore in that regard. But I’m not sure a villain ever really thinks he’s a villain.”

Depp was also full of praise for Branagh, who as well as directing the film also stars as the detective, Hercule Poirot, saying he’d film ‘anything’ with the Brit.

“I was staggered by the beauty [of the film]. Just seeing every piece of the puzzle come together in the beautiful way that Kenneth constructed the film.

“He’s a force to be reckoned with, a genius. I’d film anything he wanted to film with me,” he gushed.

The film is an adaptation of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel of the same name which sees Poirot investigate a death in his carriage on the Orient Express train from Istanbul to London.
