Mick Jagger has admitted that he feels ‘upset’ about not getting in touch with David Bowie before his death.

The Rolling Stones frontman, who was close to the late music legend in the 1970s and 80s, has spoken out about his regret.

“I was listening to his album before he died and ahead of it coming out,” he told The Mirror.

“I thought I must get in touch with him as I hadn’t seen him in long time. But he died almost immediately after that. I was very upset.”

Jagger, who collaborated with Bowie on 1985’s Dancing In The Street added:

”What he was going through must have been really wrenching. But working and doing such good work until the very end is really laudable.”

The British rocker spoke to Rolling Stone magazine shortly after Bowie’s death in January.

“There was always an exchange of information within our friendship. And I suppose there was always an element of competition between us, but it never felt overwhelming,” he said.

"We had a lot in common in wanting to do big things onstage — using interesting designs, narratives, personalities.”

The 72-year-old even claimed that Bowie used to ‘copy’ some of his dance moves, but always admitted to doing so.

“He used to copy me sometimes, but he'd be very honest about it. If he took one of your moves, he'd say, "That's one of yours — I just tried it."
