Meryl Streep donned a fat suit and orange face paint for her latest role on stage at the Shakespeare in the Park gala.

The Oscar-winning actress, who has played the likes of Margaret Thatcher and Emmeline Pankhurst in her career, transformed into presidential hopeful Donald Trump for Monday’s event.

Streep, who has been a vocal supporter of Democrat Hillary Clinton, lampooned the Republican candidate at the Delacorte Theatre in New York.

Not looking at all dissimilar to Trump, the character actress painted her face orange to match the candidate’s trademark tan.

She also donned a rather large fat suit and wore a suit and bright red tie, while her hair was twisted up to mimic Trump’s bright blonde mop.

Streep performed a twist on Cole Porter’s Brush Up Your Shakespeare while on stage as Trump, alongside Tony-winner Christine Baranski.

Taken from musical Kiss Me Kate, the pair performed the number together, which advises men how to seduce women through Shakespeare.

“You’ll let me know, why all the women say no,” sang Steep.

Baranski continued: “Brush up your Shakespeare and the women you will wow. Just declaim a few lines from Othello, and they’ll think you’re a hell of a fella.”

Last year, Clinton revealed that she was keen for Streep to play her in a film of her life.

When asked who would be the closest fit during an interview on Live with Kelly and Michael, the Democratic candidate responded: “Well, Meryl Streep, of course.”
