The stars of last year’s Love Island entertained social media as they tweeted their reactions to the first episode of the new series.

On Monday night, series four of the popular show began on ITV2 with 10 contestants coupling up and getting to know their partner – before an eleventh Islander, Adam, was given the choice to split up one of the couples to get his girl.

And the cast of last year’s show, which achieved record ratings back then, were hooked on all the action from the moment the show returned, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Last year’s winner Amber Davies revealed that she is rooting for Hayley Hughes and Eyal Booker to win while her former flame Kem Cetinay is supporting Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham.

Jack, who is already the bookies favourite guy, also has the support of Jonny Mitchell who entered the villa late last year and coupled up with both Camilla Thurlow and Tyla Carr during his stint on the programme.

Presenter Montana Brown could still feel the tension, writing: “Why am I nervous sat here watching Love Island, what does everyone think? I like Kendall go on girl stepping forward #loveisland.”

And Marcel Somerville had some idea how Dr Alex George would be feeling after nobody stepped forward for him and then losing his girl when Wes Nelson chose Laura Anderson.

The former Blazin’ Squad star wrote: “[He will be feeling] Very peak, but he's dealt with more stress than this as a doctor. He can do his thing.”

He added: “Trust me the couple's that are there right now will probably totally change by the end of the week. Alex might have some moves up his sleeves!!!”

Meanwhile, Olivia Attwood joked with her fans about one of this year’s cast bearing a striking resemblance to her while Gabby Allen quipped about a return to the villa as “second time lucky”.

Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
