Louis Tomlinson has criticised Justin Bieber for pulling out of his Purpose World Tour, saying he should have ‘seen it through’.

Bieber, 23, cancelled the remaining 14 planned dates across Asia and North America, telling fans he was in need of “rest”.

Tomlinson, 25, said although he can sympathise with the Canadian pop superstar, he believes he owed it to his legion of fans to complete the dates.

“Obviously, you have to be in a good position mentally, but I also think, to a certain degree, when you're signing up to something, you should see it through,” he told 92.3 AMP Radio.

Tomlinson, who performed live on The X Factor just days after his mother died in December, said some stars forget how important their fans are in keeping them in the industry.

“There's never enough that I can say or do for the fans,” he said. “Honestly I think people can forget that.

“I get it the whole game is so exciting and crazy but at the end of the day, it’s the people who are buying the records that are putting you where you are.”

Bieber performed more than 150 shows in six continents since kicking off his tour in March 2016.

Speaking to reporters in Santa Monica about why he pulled the plug, he said: “Yh I’m fine. Just resting and getting some relaxation. We're gonna ride some bikes.”

Asked if he has a message for his fans, he replied: “I love you guys. I think you guys are awesome.

“Sorry for anyone who feels disappointed or betrayed, it’s not like my heart or anything. Have a blessed day.”

It was reported that he will take a hiatus from music to rededicate “his life to Christ”.
