Anyone who saw Schott's Original Miscellany will be unsurprised to hear this foodie incarnation is just as good: packed with fascinating tidbits, from Dickens on oysters to a how-to of tealeaf reading to things that make Homer Simpson drool 'mmm...'

Schott astutely combines the serious (body mass index), and the lighthearted (the favourite foods of the Bay City Rollers), the luxurious (pancake recipes from the Dorchester's archives) and the unfeasibly trivial (Laotian cooking measures). The items are all bitesized, and all delicious.
