Lily Allen has been slammed for describing gay people as “f**s” in an anti-Donald Trump tweet.

Allen sparked outrage on the micro-blogging site after she tweeted: “F**s hate Trump.”

The singer accompanied the post with a link from Gay Times about her anti-Trump anthem, which featured a picture of a protester holding up a placard reading: ‘F**s hate Trump’.

Allen was branded “ignorant” and “vile” by some who took offence to her using the slur.

One user tweeted: “Please don't refer to us as F**S, we are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender if anyone has to be labelled.”

Another posted: “Please don't collectively call us ‘f**s’. Some of us don't mind; but some of us hate it. Would you use the ‘N’ word collectively?”

The Smile singer was also called out for attempting to speak on behalf of others.

One user tweeted: “Isn't it funny how some pop stars, in their attempt to virtue signal, think they can speak on behalf of others?”

Another wrote: “You don't speak for all gay people. And this simply isn't true. It's you living in an echo chamber! #LGBT #Trump.”

Others argued Allen was simply repeating a message that was on a sign and was not trying to cause offence.

Standard Online has contacted a representative for Allen for comment.

The latest backlash comes months after she was lambasted for apologising on “behalf of the UK” to a teenage refugee who was living at the Calais jungle migrant camp.

Apologising to the youngster on Victoria Derbyshire's BBC show she said: “It just seems that at three different intervals in this young boy’s life, the English in particular have put you in danger.

“We’ve bombed your country, put you in the hands of the Taliban and now put you in danger of risking your life to get into our country.

“I apologise on behalf of my country. I’m sorry for what we have put you through.”

Her comments were branded “silly” and “under informed”.
