Liam Payne has opened up about the time he saved Calvin Harris from a flying dwarf.

Payne, 23, said the “bizarre” near-miss took place at Miley Cyrus’ 21st birthday party and nearly cost the superstar DJ his life.

The former One Direction singer said he shouted out to Harris seconds before the dwarf could have flown straight into his head.

“I was at Miley Cyrus' 21st birthday party. There was obviously everybody there and I saved Calvin Harris from a midget. That was quite bizarre,” he told The Sun.

“They had flying midgets at this thing. It was a rooftop thing. One was coming behind him and it was like a slow-mo of me shouting at Calvin to duck.

“He's a tall boy and there was a midget coming at his head and literally that would have been curtains for him.”

Payne is currently promoting his upcoming solo career which will see him drop his debut single Strip That Down on Friday on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

He gave fans a sneak peek at the track and accompanying music video on Twitter where he was seen dancing topless.

Payne recently revealed that his son Bear – who he welcomed with Cheryl in March – could feature on his music.

The singer said he recorded Bear's heartbeat while he was in Cheryl's womb.

“I made it into, like, a drum beat. It’s super cool. We haven’t really fit it with any song yet but, I mean, there’s a chance of,” he told KISS FM.
