Lewis Capaldi has opened up on how he often questions his success despite selling out arena shows prior to releasing a debut album.

Capaldi, 22, spent seven weeks at number one with hit Someone You Loved but has since told how he isn't always confident in his abilities after struggling with Imposter’s Syndrome.

He told the Sun: “I feel I’ve got Imposter Syndrome. What am I doing here? Why do all these people want to see me?

“When I’m sitting backstage at a festival in my trackies looking around, I think, ‘What the f*** am I doing here?’

“Everyone is an artist or looks like they should be on the catwalk while I look like I should be at home watching Jeremy Kyle.”

The Grace hit maker added that it “blows his mind” to be compared to the likes of Ed Sheeran, who he is set to open for on a handful of shows later this year.

Capaldi revealed Sheeran gifted him a watch to congratulate him on his success as well as a gesture of good will because he is set to warm up for the Shape of You singer in August.

“[Ed] sent [the watch] because we are playing those shows. Fair play to him. It shows what a nice guy he is. But to be compared to him and other singers, it blows my mind and I just don’t take it seriously or get carried away. When I’m compared to people like Ed Sheeran and Adele, I can relax a bit because they are legit," he said.

During his day off the Scottish singer revealed that he had decided to Google himself when he stumbled across an article that claimed the mass worth, despite him having “under £200” in his account.

Explaining the incident in a witty Instagram video, he said: “So I have a day off in Cincinnati, I thought for a laugh I'd Google it and see what the Internet says about my net worth.

“It says according to Forbes and Wikipedia, Lewis Capaldi's estimated net worth is $10million. I have less than £200 in my bank right now so who the f*** has my $10million?”

He then declared the “false information” as “nonsense” at the end of the epic rant.
