Impressionism Abroad
Royal Academy, W1

Most of the paintings in this beguiling exhibition are on loan from a single American gallery: Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.

The show tells the story of the infatuation of artists such as William Morris Hunt and John Singer Sargent with the French Impressionists.

Studying with Monet and co, they adopted the movement's bright palette and distinctive broken brushwork, modifying it to depict local scenes on their return to Boston. Paintings by Degas, Pissaro and Tarbell.

(0870 848 8484). Ends Sun 11 Sep.
